“Open The Gate, Inc.” is a non-profit organization 501(C)(3) established in 1999 who’s philanthropy is a therapeutic program involving humans & horses providing physical and psychological support while communicating the importance of the bond between human & horse. Evaluating each individual’s abilities, guiding him or her to achieve and practice these qualities while providing a friendly environment enhancing life, in an enjoyable and natural surrounding. Visitors can also enjoy the antics of an array of farm animals including goats, chickens, ducks, cats, and our resident pig “Pinky” who of course loves food. Humans: Animal Assisted Therapy program
The human program gives children, youth, and adults with disabilities and special needs an opportunity to participate in animal assisted and equine-related therapeutic activities enjoying it as a sport as well. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for those who have been injured, are in therapy, physically, emotionally, or developmentally challenged.The ability to help a handi-capped person discover they can actually ride, drive or enjoy other horse-related activities has a great impact on our personal commitment. The program “Opens the gate” to endless possibilities. How about a career in the equine world? There are many equine-related subjects that do not even require riding, such as training, judging, driving, buying and selling, breeding, and even the medical field. All of these possibilities bring new rewards and opportunities to life!

Horses: Therapy & Rehabilitation
The horse program gives horses that are deemed no longer useful, a problem to society, out of control, and many other issues a second chance. Horses are screened to see if they meet the program outlines. When they arrive at the facility were the atmosphere is calm, they begin with a new and gentle relationship, desensitizing them and re-educating them back into a social environment. After completion of the program they are strategically placed in their new homes to live a happy and rewarding life. Horses deserve every chance at a new life as much as humans do. They are very loving, forgiving and non-conditional animals.
